Straight Into The Sun is the seventh studio album by Australian indie rock band The Cruel Sea, released in March 2025 via Universal Music.
The Cruel Sea have released their first full-length studio album in 23 years following Where There’s Smoke (2001).
Originally formed in 1989, The Cruel Sea gained fame with their groundbreaking albums, particularly “The Honeymoon Is Over”, which solidified their place in Australian music history.
The upcoming album features the classic lineup of Tex Perkins, Dan Rumour, Jim Elliott, and Ken Gormly, alongside long-time collaborator Matt Walker, who steps in for the late James Cruickshank.
The album blends various musical influences honed over their 30+ year career. “Straight Into The Sun” promises to deliver the rich, soulful vibes fans have come to love, infused with the band’s trademark dark humour.
This album is on black vinyl housed in a single pocket sleeve with a printed inner sleeve, pressed in New Zealand via Universal Music.
